NATWEST U19 T20 COMPETITION

Posted by Geoff Dicker on

This year Trowbridge players have been invited to play in the U19 T20 competition in a joint team with Westbury and Warminster under the guise of West Wilts.  The competition aims to fill a gap after youth cricket finishes and to encourage young players to continue with cricket.  This national competition will not take place until after exams have finished so games will be played starting in late June.

An e-mail has been sent to all current and former Trowbridge Youth Players who are eligible to play in this age-group.

There will be 2 leagues in Wiltshire consisting of 4 teams and West Wilts have been paired against old rivals Winsley, Biddestone and Potterne.

Update

Unfortunatley Winsley CC have withdrawn from the league so this now just leaves there sides in the competition in the South Wilts division.

We did manage to play a game at Potterne on 13th July and although we lost we gave a "star-studded" Potterne side a good run for their money.

The game featured 6 Trowbridge players (Chris Dicker (Captain), Tom Lloyd, Matt Dicker, James Tilsley, Phil Johnson, & Katherine Mills)

Scores were:

Monday 13th July - Potterne v West Wilts at Potterne CC

West Wilts 146 for 8 from 20 overs (Tom Lloyd 30, Matt Dicker 25) Jack Collier 2-29

Potterne 149 for 2 from 15.3 overs (Josh Hodder 46, Ollie Jackson 33 not out) Alex Hampson 2-30

Monday 24th July - Biddestone v West Wilts at Warminster LWC

Biddestone  133 for 5 (Harry Beazer 41, Akito Jacques 30) Tom Lloyd 4-0-23-2

West Wilts  66 all out (Chris Dicker 35 not out - carried bat!!) Sean Williams 4-0-17-4

Sunday 13th August - Finals Day at Biddestone CC

Chippenham  92 for 7 (Ollie Slade 50 retired, not out, Alex Christopher not out 34) Jake Small 2-0-4-3

West Wilts 85 all out (Jake Small 28)  M Khan 3-0-4-3

Although we lost all three games against very strong opposition we have at least taken part in this competition.  We intend to regroup next season with all of the lessons learned and hope to achieve success by adopting a more cohesive approach next year.

Many thanks to all those Trowbridge players who participated - Chris Dicker, Tom Lloyd, Matt Dicker, James Tilsley, Phil Johnson, Justin Avenell & Katherine Mills.
