Pre-Season Week 1

The 1st XI took the short journey to Winsley Cricket Club for a nail-biting win by just 3 runs as they got their 2022 season off to a positive start.

A maiden TCC fifty for debutant Tony Burrows (65) saw him continue his prolific run scoring history within the local area - a solid start to what will hopefully be a strong season for the new signing. Skipper Tom Oakley batted in typical fashion, bludgeoning a quick-fire 43 off 35 balls to propel his side to a solid 45 over total.

Wickets were shared around the side, with the ever consistent Jake Paxton picking up 3/41. Sam Julyan rounded off the game with an exceptional final over maiden to secure victory with just 4 needed off the last.

A youthful 2nd XI welcomed a solid Winsley side to the County Ground for a fixture played in high spirits with lots of young talent on show.

Anna-Mae Shearn got off to a flying start to the 2022 season, with 2 sharp spells of bowling picking up 2/26, continuing her consistent 2nd XI form from the 2021 season. Chris Dicker returned strong figures of 1/9 from 6 overs, confusing both the batsman and his own teammates with his new ability to turn the ball sideways. 13 year old Ollie Brown, making his senior bowling debut, took the new ball and returned figures of 5 overs 1/10 - an impressive debut for the young talent.

Debutant Jamie Ealey got off to a solid batting start to his TCC career, with a couple of big shots en-route to 28 off 26 balls before being unfairly done by a unavoidable 'loweyyyy'. Runs from skipper Adam Bolton (30) and a strong partnership between Katherine Mills (25) and Anna-Mae (22) kept hopes alive but ultimately the young side came up short against an experienced Winsley unit.

All in all a good return to cricket for the club as we start to build towards what should be a huge season for all 3 league sides.
